Insanity... With A Pretty Face

White House spokeskitten Dana Perino explains to a reporter why global warming is good,

Q And one more. You mentioned that there are health benefits to climate change. Could you describe some of those?
MS. PERINO: Sure. In some cases, there are -- look, this is an issue where I'm sure lots of people would love to ridicule me when I say this, but it is true that many people die from cold-related deaths every winter. And there are studies that say that climate change in certain areas of the world would help those individuals.

Sheik Laura

Nancy Pelosi was pilloried as an Islamofascist tool when she covered up on her last mid east junket....Laura's just pilled out...
I still think Laura's meds are Joker brand approved products.

Mayor Mc911

The best polling hopeful for the Repukes to challenge Hillary. Haha.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and a queen is just a queen. No one will invoke 911 more frequently or frivolously than Rudy...it even explains cell phone interruptions from his wife...what a joke this guy is.

60 Minutes

The 60 minutes interview on the Plame affair tonight was a rehash of known information. The most damning information was left out of the main story of the version I saw.

What is CBS afraid of? Did the football game require editing out the relevant new information re Iran and project Merlin?

Muahahaha

Lighter humour for Sunday.

Jesus Christ America!

Watch 60 minutes this Sunday. In light of the latest revelations about the position and important work re: Valerie Plame...this criminal government has to be held accountable.

Jesus... if Democrats had done this to a major clandestine CIA operation against Iran in a time of war, Republicans would have shut down government until there was a complete purge of all involved... including the president and vice president. Nancy Pelosi should be temporarily running the U.S government until an election can be organized.

The right have been screaming to do something to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, then Cheney shuts down the major operation to do just that, for petty political revenge...and there's no consequences, then there's a pardon for anyone involved in this treason? WTF America?

Steely Dan Live NYC - FM

Doesn't get much better, even after 30 years?

What Genocide?

Maybe Turkey shouldn't have to face the reality of it's past until Americans acknowledge how many Iraqis ( possibly over a million) have been killed and how many millions have been driven out of their country or caused inhuman suffering as the result of an unnecessary, immoral invasion?
No, everyone should face the reality of their actions past and present to hopefully forge a conviction for a better future.

Tori Amos Hey Jupiter Live

Sure, Tori is certifiable, believes in fairies etc...very eccentric.
Doesn't matter much when you have her talent and wonderful voice.
She's also cute when she forgets words to her song in rehearsal...

Who Do You Trust? Your Telecom Provider?

"Prey for peace", says Mr. Fish.
Bush needs immunity for all involved in the pervasive warrant less wiretapping program.
If they'll screw over and expose a CIA agent for revenge and flout the Geneva Convention on torture, how much concern is being shown for any other citizen's rights or privacy?
And how many millions of people are being spied upon? No one in an oversight role knows.
I would assume by now considering the lack pf resistance in Congress, that it's all of us. They can do whatever they want because they say so.

A Sexier Future

Sexy, soon to be President of Argentina, they just call her Cristina

(Kirchner), a fashionista at 54.

Sexy, almost President of France Segolene Royal,a young and brainy 54.

And pushing 60, the lovely Hillary. Not as sexy as her competition but more relevant is what difference will it make having women running the world?

Q hopes to find out sooner rather than later and of course the media conversation has to get over the initial sexy comparisons...except for the shallow Q and Undeniable Liberal of course.

We would reserve the right to be horndogs.

Miles davis et John Coltrane - So what

If one had to choose one American who contributed the most to culture, spirituality and genius, I'd pick John Coltrane. The fact that his path crossed with Miles Davis is the high point of American culture.
If one were picking influence more generally, it would be black musicians from the birth of the blues to the birth of the cool...

Kangaroo Court

Mr. Fish doesn't mince words. Khaled El Masri is not the only innocent victim who has been kidnapped and tortured by the U.S.. but the Supreme Court doesn't even give a reason why they ignore the principals that the country was founded on.
The terrorists have won.
The only 'state secrets' that could have been revealed by a trial are that the biggest terrorists are still in the White House and they obviously control the decisions of the court.

Hubris on the Tigris

The worlds largest insurgent target and white elephant won't open infefinitely?
The new U.S. embassy in Iraq, the worlds largest and most expensive embassy...hey, how is that possible when they used slave labor?
$750 million for a death trap all Iraqis despise....only a Bushco project could be this corrupt, mismanaged and doomed to failure...

Alvin Lee - Jenny Jenny

For Jenny and jj :) :)

What???? My vote would finally count this time with MMP?

Why support change?
The traditional problems with our system are,
1) People are lazy about exercising their voting rights.
2)People are lazier about becoming 'knowledgeable' voters.
3) In the current system, your vote only counts if you pick the winner and the winner may not even have received the majority of votes. First past the post is a lazy system perpetuating more laziness and voter ennui. I gots the voter jejune blues again is the story of Q's voting history.
Mixed member proportional voting, (having the usual 1 vote locally and a second vote as to which party you support) will correct these issues, and if not are there any other great ideas being suggested? .............................ah no?
Knowing your vote will count should encourage higher voter turnout.
Knowing your vote counts may encourage people to educate themselves about the parties and issues.
The current system in Ontario keeps turning out the same shitty governments who lie, don't keep promises and( as the lovely Sheryl Crow notes) a change will do you good.

Dreaming About Caturday

It's Not Murder In Iraq

Blackwater has been exposed for being a lawless rogue group of mercenaries who are protected and sanctioned at the highest levels of government. To Iraqis, they're just more U.S. thugs oppressing them day in day out.

Even when they claimed that a drunken employee who shot the guard of the vice president was disciplined ( a fine, how harsh for murder), the State Dept. made sure this fellow got back to work quickly.
You can even kill lots of Iraqis and still escape consequences.

Of course the solution is to allow the lying enabler to keep a close watch on these thugs.

Shhh...Nobody Can Know The Details

An excellent question.
"But al-Qaeda terrorists always have assumed that their electronic communications were vulnerable to interception, which is why 9/11 attackers like Mohamed Atta traveled overseas for face-to-face meetings with their handlers. They limited their phone calls to mostly routine conversations.
The terrorists also had no reason to know or to care that the U.S. government was or wasn’t getting wiretap approval from the secret court created by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. They simply took for granted that their communications could be intercepted and acted accordingly."

Tunnel of Love

It ought to be easy ought to be simple enough

Man meets a woman and they fall in love

But the house is haunted and the ride gets rough

And you've got to learn to live with what you can't rise above if you want to ride

on down in through this tunnel of love
