Whom Shall We Choose?

Okay, Canadians don't have a say in American elections but we certainly have to suffer the consequences.

I was just reading that Canadian men would choose sex over chocolate 5 to 1, while Canadian women are a toss up!
Q would loose a bag of M&Ms anytime for Angelina but what about the choice of Obama or Hillary for President?
Clearly the solution is to have both, sex and chocolate together but neither seems likely to want the #2 job.

After 8 years of total Republican FUBAR mismanagement, would Americans choose the likable McCain over sex or chocolate?

Rudy Cops A Plea To Florida

So long Rudy.

What happened to support for the the Mayor of America?

Who doesn't love a cross dressing, inveterate liar with a penchant for serial adultery?

Why does America hate Mr. 911?

David Bowie - Rebel Rebel

Q gives 2 cats up to that wonderful little Canadian film Juno.

http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/09/14/juno-movie-trailer/

An excuse to play Rebel Rebel as well? muahahaha

As an existentialist of sorts and an iconoclast always, I appreciate all examples of how intelligent people can make their own life choices without the need to reference religion or authority.

Ellen Page who plays the delightful teen Juno is fantastico and she's from Q's home town of Halifax.

Can an American audience adapt to such moral choices flying around without the baby Jesus choosing for you? Muahahaha

If Ever There Was A Time For Change...

Who ya gonna trust? Billary Clinton? Barack Osama? The other cute lawyer guy with the $400 hair cut?

Any of the Dems is a thousand times better than any of the Repukes running but why is it that the only ones who make it to the top seem most influenced by special interests, mainly corporate America and we're left wondering if 'change' is just a slogan?

The Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For The Man

This was Andy Warhol's fav little band and though they only sold records in the thousands, Brian Eno pointed out that everyone who bought one was inspired to start their own little garage band.
Lou Reed couldn't sing or play very well but in rock music, creativity has been at the heart of it.

1) Lou Reed - Sweet Jane - live in Paris, 1974

I saw this tour in '74 in Detroit, back when performances were more raw and unpredictable.
Bassist Prakash John and drummer Penti Glan were from Toronto and that sound is all Mandela and Bush, two very influential Toronto bands of the 60's led by Domenic Troiano and these two solid players.
The guitarist Danny Weis now lives in Toronto and started the 60's bands Iron Butterfly. He is a great player with an interesting career.
The reason they look so apprehensive is Lou Reed may or may not show up, would likely fall off stage or at best miss half of the lyrics. It seemed the more Lou tried to offend his audience the more popular he became.
The album of this tour was 'Sally Can't Dance" and that could equally apply to Lou ;)

Mission Accomplished

2007 was a very good year for polluting, non-renewable resources that cause wars....almost 40 billion in profits for Exxon-Mobil alone.

Homelands

I guess one way to 'win' in Iraq would be to stay for 500 years?

Jeff Beck -- Led Boots (Crossroads 2007)

Jeff Beck touring in '07 with a great new bass talent from Australia, Tal Wilkenfeld, who's just turned 21.
She's only been playing 4-5 years and has already toured with jazz master Chick Corea. She's that talented.
Her fav is Hendrix of course but Jeff will have to do as a guitar idol.
Her 'rockin out with the boys' expressions are priceless.

Bad Dreams

Should Bill Clinton be a spokesperson for Hillary's campaign?
He's busy collecting a list of personal attacks by Obama, he has 80 already?
Jesus Christ! Since when did Democrats have to start fighting for the black vote?
It's not like they're voting Republican.
Divisive campaign bad for '08 chances, positive change good.
And what's up with that ass hole Nic Sarkozy? Flying around the world partying with former model Carla Bruni, who he has now secretly married only months after dumping the lovely Cecilia( she's breaking my heart) Sarkozy.
Cecilia, a lady so fine she snubbed Laura Bush's picnic invitation during a recent visit and went shopping with her girl friends...muahahaha
I'm still bitter about Segolene Royal losing to this right wing playboy.

David Bowie - I´m afraid of Americans (live)

Saw Bowie a few years back, this was my favorite song at the show.

And who's going to make us less afraid of Americans in '08?
Hillary? Doubtful.
Obama? Maybe.
Edwards? Possibly.

Beyond Good and Evil

What is in the Bush/ Neocon psyche that is not morally troubled by torture? Apparently they only fear prosecution and impeachment which keeps them looking for ways to circumvent rules and laws, for example rendition and secret off shore prisons and redefining people to place them outside the scope of human rights as if that were possible.

What has changed since 911? I see it as an attempt to change the national consciousness from good guys and bad guys in the world, which is what signing on to the U.N. charter establishes, to simply it's us versus them with no questions of morality needed. You're either with us or against, 911 changed everything.

Why do these people on the right support this? First of all they're entirely wrong since the vast majority of experts agree that torture is ineffective, immoral, illegal and dangerous for future Americans captured and it destroys the essential moral authority that the U.S. needs to project around the world.

I suspect in keeping with their beliefs, the Bushites think they are terrorizing the terrorists as part of a strategy to defeat them, to win the war on terror by fighting fire with fire. That seems patently stupid except that those on the right already believe that capital punishment stops crime and harsh drug policy stops drug use. These beliefs are clearly wrong as well in the face of facts and expert studies and opinions.

Then there is the neocon view that because the U.S. is the sole superpower in the world, it therefore has the right to suspend agreements and act outside the law as it chooses.

It's not unlike God who said thou shalt not kill , then he temporarily suspends the laws by telling Abraham to kill his son. That put theologians into contortions trying to explain the impossible contradiction just like the White House is trying to explain a clearly wrong and immoral view on torture when the U.S. signed on to the U.N. charter protecting the dignity and rights of all humans, without exceptions.

There's always simply just lying too, as in Bush's 'we don't torture' ( at least as we define it)

And why does Canada's conservative goverment support this new attitude about human rights? More of the same traditional right wing thinking, more prisons, longer sentences, the death penalty, harsh interrogations for terrorists, this is the philosophical direction that the right thinks will miraculously achieve law and order.

You simply have to stop calling it torture.

What's The Frequency Kenneth?

It's a new year and it's same old same old of course.

God has announced through the only one who speaks for him that gays are threatening not only the family but world peace no less.

I guess that's true if the gays he's referring to are the gay and pedophile priests in the Catholic church. Gays outside the church are certainly not destroying any one's faith along with their earthly life as has happened many times in the church.

File under, will probably never get their heads out of their asses or I don't give a rats ass.

Evolution

I turned on CNN, Mike Huckabee was speechifying or stumpifying and within 3 seconds I was hearing all that's wrong with the right.

Huckabee was saying that, ' we, in the new year should improve protecting our borders and sovereignty here at home and around the world'.

What sovereignty does the U.S. have around the world? Aside from the barrel of a gun , temporary kind.

This is a day after he reasserted that gay behaviour is a choice, gays are the same as necrophiliacs, abortion should be criminalized, doctors punished and he doesn't know much about geography , doesn't know much about current international events either.

This is what we all need after 8 years of rule by Exxon and Haliburton, 4 years of an ignorant preaching Gomer Pyle.

1 More Year of Madness

So the genius war mongering dictator gives 10 billion in aid to Pakistan, already in the top 10 most corrupt countries in the world, 10 billion with no accountability, the hallmark of this misadministration and what happens?

Pakistan's level of corruption doubles! Can we assume then that at least half of the 10 billion will have disappeared?

Some of it was apparently being used by the Pakistani secret service to rig the upcoming elections.

In fact, on the day of her death, Bhutto was to meet with American officials, Patrick Kennedy and Arlen Specter to reveal evidence of this election rigging using American aid...

Sending billions to corrupt dictators and threatening everyone militarily is the Bush version of foreign policy for regrettably another year...
