Alternatives

A simple solution to bypassing Bush that would end the war.

"Whereas Iraq both poses a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region and remains in material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations by, among other things, continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability, actively seeking a nuclear capability, and supporting and harboring terrorist organizations."

Some of the original resolution from Congress in 2002 authorizing Bush to invade Iraq.

Since all of the statements and resolutions are resolved ( actually they were all untrue) and of course Saddam is removed, there is no reason why Congress can not issue a new resolution claiming the mission is now completed and thus end the war.

This same method was done to end the 1993 involvement in Somalia.

Let's hope that's just what Madame Speaker had in mind when she spoke yesterday about a change in direction for Iraq. Supposedly next week Bush will announce his "surge and merge" or whatever it's called, deployment of another 20,000 troops. Exactly the opposite of what needs to be done.

now wouldn't that be a wonderful thing? the dems are capable of giving the u.s. and the world a giant present for 2007. that is of course unless bush gets tired of being a lame duck and creates some new attack on the states then declares marshall law and shuts the dems down......is that a possible scenario?

my i'm in a posititive mood! must be because it's raining and i'm sicker then a dog. ugh. never stay up all night new years eve when your past a certain age :)

The Pentagon says they can't come up with 9000 new troops. This war's about as popular as Viet Nam right now.
Sorry you're partying too much in Hawaii scout. You poor thing:) It's hard, very hard work.

OMG, they can't even come up with 9,000. Maybe they're just saying that because they don't agree with the strategery. Not a bad plan, actually. Just say there aren't any troops to send, problem solved.
